One thing to be noted about Namco × Capcom's game progression is that free deployment stages are scarce; you will be spending most of the game playing with forced deployment characters per stage only. This may just seem like much of the cast being treated like Spot Participation characters, but in fact Character Acquisition is still present in this game, in how characters who join the team, despite probably not getting deployed for the stages to come, can still have their stats checked and be equipped with items in the intermission.
