Spell Card effects tend to change by difficulty, especially the generic penalties. The ones listed are for Normal, so for the higher difficulties just assume the effects were enhanced.

If a spellcard does not have a special penalty, it tends to have a significant generic penalty instead.

Chapter 11

  • Conjuring "Eternal Meek"
    • 4 turns. Sakuya's damage increases as her HP decreases. (Every 10% HP lost, +3% damage)
  • Scarlet Sign "Scarlet Shoot"
    • 5 turns. Evasion -15%.
  • Heaven's Punishment "Star of David"
    • 4 turns. Evasion -10%, small MP loss at the beginning of every turn on certain spaces. MAP.

    • Infinite turns. Cuts Evasion stat by 10.

Chapter 14

    • 4 turns. Yukari can use any spirit command known by the player team, up to 5 times.
  • Sinister Spirits "Double Black Death Butterfly"
    • 3 turns. Graze damage taken +500.
  • "Boundary of Humans and Youkai"
    • 5 turns. Player cannot cross strengthened dots in grid pattern. Alternates between human evasion -25% and youkai evasion -25% each turn. MAP targeting entire danmaku field fires each turn. Must be timed out to capture.
  • Barrier "Boundary of Life and Death"
    • 3 turns. Bomb range -1. Yukari is invincible to all attacks unless they are delivered from range 1 or from outside the danmaku field.
  • Yukari's Arcanum "Danmaku Barrier"
    • 5 turns. If at least one character is within the danmaku field, the current turn count is set to (Yukari's HP%/20). Yukari's Armor and Accuracy increase as her HP decreases. Yukari can act once per character within the danmaku field.

    • 3 turns. At start of enemy turn, one half of the screen will have their Power randomly decreased or increased by 50. Spellcard description lies about effect.

    • 3 turns. Player units cannot dodge except with Alert.

Chapter 41

  • Keine: Future "New History Of Phantasm -Next History-"
    • 3 turns. Player units have their level reduced by 25.
  • Mokou 1: Hourai "South Wind, Clear Sky -Fujiyama Volcano-"
    • 3 turns. MAP. Player movement -1. Mokou's HP Regen increased to 60%. Mokou must be killed twice to capture.
  • Mokou 2: "Possessed by Phoenix"
    • 3 turns. Player movement -1. Effects of Mokou's Prevail and Instinct are doubled.

Chapter 42

  • Reisen: "Stare of the Hazy Phantom Moon (Lunatic Red Eyes)"
    • 3 turns. Player Hit/Evade rates halved.
  • Eirin 1: Leading God "Omoikane's Device"
    • 3 turns. Player units have their Defense stat set to 0.
  • Eirin 2: Esoterica "Astronomical Entombing"
    • 3 turns. Player units cannot cross strengthened area. Player units within the seal cannot take most actions. All of Eirin's attacks are critical hits.

Chapter 43

  • Impossible Request "Jewel from the Dragon's Neck -Five-Colored Shots-"
    • 3 turns. MAP. Player Evasion -30.
  • Impossible Request "Buddha's Stone Bowl -Indomitable Will-"
    • 3 turns. Player units cannot cross. Kaguya is immune to the first 6 attacks taken while she stands within the danmaku field.
  • Impossible Request "Robe of the Fire Rat -Patient Mind-"
    • 3 turns. Kaguya gains a barrier instead of a new attack. Player MP costs +25%. Kaguya does not attack, and will only Defend in response to attacks unless affected by Break The Sabbath.
  • Impossible Request "Swallow's Cowrie Shell -Everlasting Life-"
    • 3 turns. Each attack against Kaguya raises her HP Regen by +10% on the next turn, unless the attack used Fury.
  • Impossible Request "Bullet Branch of Hourai -Rainbow Danmaku-"
    • 3 turns. Spirit commands cost 30% more SP.
  • "End of Imperishable Night"
    • 3 turns. MAP. Turn count advances as Kaguya's HP depletes. Alert does not function on turn 1. Grit does not function on turn 2. Kaguya cannot take more than 5000 damage from any attack.

Chapter 44

  • Forbidden Barrage "Clock that Ticks Away the Past"
    • 3 turns. Player units cannot cross. Flandre's Accuracy +20%.
  • Taboo "Maze of Love"
    • Infinite turns. MAP. Player units cannot cross strengthened area. Player Move -1 in regular area.

Chapter 48

  • Divine Sword "Hi-no-Kagutsuchi"
    • 3 turns. Yorihime's final damage +1200.
  • Divine Dance "Ame-no-Uzume-no-Mikoto"
    • 3 turns. Yorihime is immune to Ranged attacks.
  • Spiritualism "Take-Mikazuchi"
    • 3 turns. Yorihime auto-casts Accel each turn. Yorihime can pass through allied units. Yorihime's Accuracy can go over 100%. Values over 100% are turned into a damage multiplier.
  • "Amaterasu-Omikami"
    • 3 turns. MAP. Yorihime auto-casts Zeal each turn. Yorihime gets all stats +40.

Chapter 51

  • Kisume: Well Bucket "Well Destructor"
    • 3 turns. No Entry on the strengthened area. Damage taken -60%.
  • Yamame: Small Thread "Kandata's Rope"
    • 3 turns. Player weapon power -500. Player Armor/Mobility -50%.

Chapter 52

  • Parsee: Jealousy Sign "Green-Eyed Monster"
    • 3 turns. MAP. Parsee's stats increase for each bar of upgrades and WP her opponent has.
  • Yuugi 1: Oni Sign "Anomalies, Strength, Disorder, and Spirits"
    • 3 turns. Yuugi's weapon power +500.
  • Yuugi 2: Four Devas' Arcanum "Knock Out in Three Steps"
    • 3 turns. Yuugi auto-casts Strike and Fury.

Chapter 53

  • Satori 1R: Recollection "Illusionary Dominance"
    • 3 turns.
  • Satori 1M: Recollection "Kappa's Pororoca"
    • 3 turns. All units are forced Underwater.
  • Satori 2R: Recollection "Boundary of Life and Death"
    • 3 turns.
  • Satori 2M: Recollection "And Then Will There Be None?"
    • 3 turns. MAP. Units within danmaku field cannot attack.
  • Rin 1: Cursed Sprite "Zombie Fairy"
    • 3 turns. Zombie Fairies respawn after each of Orin's actions. Zombie Fairies recover all HP at the start of each turn.
  • Rin 2: Malicious Spirit "Spleen Eater"

Chapter 54

    • 3 turns. Utsuho can pass through enemies. Whenever Utsuho is damaged, her next attack's damage increases. Bonus resets at the start of the player phase.
  • Explosion Sign "Mega Flare"
    • 3 turns. Player move -1. Utsuho gains an additional HP Regen 20%.
  • Explosion Sign "Giga Flare"
    • 3 turns. MAP. Final Evade Rate -30%. Bomb Range -2. Utsuho gains 10 Power at the start of each turn.

Chapter 55

  • Atomic Fire "Uncontainable Nuclear Reaction"
    • 3 turns. Alert is nullified. Within the strengthened area, Grit is also nullified.
  • Explosion Sign "Peta Flare"
    • 3 turns. MAP. Player movement -2. Final evade rate -50%.
  • Atomic Fire "Uncontainable Nuclear Reaction Dive"
    • 3 turns. Utsuho auto-casts Fury. Each attack Utsuho hits with gives her an additional turn (max 2).
  • "Hell and Heaven Meltdown"
    • 3 turns. MAP. Move range -2. Attack range -2. Bomb range -1.
  • "Subterranean Sun"
    • 5 turns. Bomb range -2. Utsuho's Armor and Accuracy increase as her HP depletes. Utsuho's Meltdown L2 is replaced by Lifeforce Reactor L2 (unaffected by bombing).

Chapter 59

  • Unidentified "Red UFO Invasion of Rage"
    • Unlocked if Chapter 59 is played first.
    • 3 turns. Enemy final damage +800. Enemy gains HP Regen 10%.
  • Unidentified "Blue UFO Invasion of Grief"
    • Unlocked if Chapter 59 is played second.
    • 3 turns. Power decreases by 5 when damaged. Enemy gains HP Regen 10%.
  • Unidentified "Green UFO Invasion of Justice"
    • Unlocked if Chapter 59 is played last.
    • 3 turns.
  • Nue Sign "Undefined Darkness"
    • 3 turns. Player accuracy -35%. Nue cannot be targeted.
  • "Nightmare of Heiankyou"
    • 5 turns. MAP. Cannot cross the bars. Movement -1 in the filled boxes. Nue Evasion +45%.

Chapter 60

  • Fog Sign "Gassing Garden"
    • 3 turns. Mobility -85. Movement -2.
  • Confusion "Into Delirium"
    • 3 turns. If this stage was played first, the front unit's HP is reduced to 1 upon declaration and at the beginning of each Player Phase. If this stage was played second, the front unit's MP is reduced to 1 upon declaration and at the beginning of each Player Phase. If this stage was played third, the front unit's SP is reduced by 60% upon declaration and at the beginning of each Player Phase.

Chapter 61

  • Rainbow Sign "Over The Rainbow"
    • 3 turns. Player cannot move through danmaku spaces.
  • Halo "Karakasa Surprising Flash"
    • 3 turns. Kogasa's Accuracy +100,000%.
  • Rainbow Sign "Umbrella Cyclone"
    • 3 turns. Kogasa auto-casts Focus. Power -50 when declared and at the start of each turn. Player cannot move through danmaku spaces.

Chapter 62

  • Komachi: Death Price "Price of Life"
    • 3 turns. Damage dealt to Komachi is reduced the closer the attacking unit is to her, beginning at 7 tiles away.
  • Eiki 1: Judgement "Trial of the Ten Kings"
    • 3 turns. Player units cannot pass through crosses. Player units standing on lines have their damage dealt reduced by 50%.
  • Eiki 2: Judgement "Last Judgement"
    • 3 turns. MAP. Movement -2.
  • Eiki 3: Judgement "Cleansed Crystal Judgement"
    • 3 turns. After fighting Eiki, unit loses Power relative to number of units lost. Power loss varies between approximately -60 and -100 at 0 units lost. Power loss targets Satori instead of the attacking unit the first time a fight is had with Eiki, but has no effect.

Chapter 63

  • Symbol "Danmaku Paranoia"
    • 3 turns. MAP. No Entry. Units within the danmaku cannot act.
  • Instinct "Release of the Id"
    • 2 turns. Koishi gains the benefit of Fury on every attack.
  • Suppression "Super-Ego"
    • 3 turns. Danmaku field cannot be erased with Bombs. Koishi gains Auto-Strike. Koishi teleports to a random space in the danmaku on declaration and at the start of each turn.
  • Subconscious "Rorschach in Danmaku"
    • 2 turns. MAP. No Entry in the dark blue area.

Chapter 64

  • Depths "Genetics of the Subconscious"
    • 5 turns. Enemy Evade +150%.
  • Surface "Question of Self-Consciousness"
    • 4 turns. Satori Final Accuracy +100%.
  • Response "Youkai Polygraph"
    • 3 turns. Event-only (answer "いいえ、それでは…" -> "そんなことはないのよ" -> "わからない").
  • Heart Truth "A World Without Lies"
    • Infinite turns. Event-only. Disables wrong answer to final question.
  • Rekindled "The Embers of Love"
    • Infinite turns. Koishi disappears. Move to invisible event locations to capture.
  • Brain Sign "Brain Fingerprint"
    • Infinite turns. Satori movement +3. Reveals event locations when overlapped with danmaku field.
  • "Philosophy of a Hated Person"
    • Infinite turns. All damage to Koishi is nullified. Player units cannot pass.
  • "The Unlovable Third Eye"
    • Infinite turns. Satori's Mental Image attacks pierce Null Damage.
  • "Subterranean Rose"
    • Infinite turns. Koishi Accuracy +100%.
  • "Heart Flower"
    • Infinite turns. Satori auto-casts Strike and Grit before each battle. All attacks play automatically once first battle begins.

Chapter 65

  • Sword Banquet "Blade Party"
    • 2 turns. Yumeko's Counter skill always activates.
  • Sword Dance "Sabre Dance"
    • 2 turns. Cannot pass through outer ring. Movement -1. Yumeko's Accuracy and Evasion rise the lower the target's HP and MP are.
  • Doll "Misery Doll"
    • 2 turns. Yumeko's stats increase for each opponent within 3 squares.

Chapter 68

  • Yumeko default danmaku
    • Increases the accuracy of enemies by 25% and decreases damage taken by 15%
  • Yumeko: Sword Stepping "Spear Step"
    • 3 turns. Reduces movement by 2 with the blade part of the field. Enemy's final accuracy +50%.
  • Shinki default danmaku
    • All enemies receive a barrier that reduces damage by 750. Shinki auto-casts Mercy and Strike at the beginning of each turn.
  • Shinki 1: Creation "Demoness Gospel"
    • 3 turns. Gives all enemies (in field) a 40% HP recovery rate
  • Shinki 2: Great Magic "Devil's Origination"
    • 3 turns. Movement -2. In the area near Shinki, both units in the pair will take damage when attacked.
  • Shinki 3: God Wing "El Kanaph"
    • 3 turns. MAP. No Entry in the outer area. In the wing areas, both units in the pair will take damage when attacked.
  • Shinki 4: "Motherly God of Makai"
    • 3 turns. Shinki will force any character or team that is reduced to under 3000 HP to retreat from battle. This will not count as a death.

Chapter 72

  • Catfish "All-Electrical for Ecology!"
    • 3 turns. MAP. Player HP halved upon declaration and at the start of each turn. Units with less than 1000 HP cannot act.
  • Catfish "The Earth Liquefies into Mud!"
    • 3 turns. Player HP halved upon declaration and at the start of each turn. Units with less than 2000 HP cannot act.
  • Great Catfish "With This Ends the Fleeting World!"
    • 3 turns. Player HP halved upon declaration and at the start of each turn. Units with less than 3000 HP cannot act.

Chapter 73

  • Default danmaku effects
    • Yorihime gains Break Accuracy Limit.
    • Tenshi Armor +500
    • Suika becomes Size LL.
    • Units in Eirin's danmaku cannot act.
    • Kaguya's Indomitable Will replenishes at the start of each turn.
    • Yukari is immune to attacks delivered from further than 1 range.
    • Units in Yuyuko's danmaku cannot recover HP.
    • Units in Koishi's danmaku do not benefit from Strike.
    • Tiles in Remilia's danmaku are Night terrain.

Chapter 74

  • Great Funeral Concert "Ghostly Wheel Concerto Grosso: Revised"
    • Player event spell card. Max SP +100, Max Power +100.

Chapter 75

  • Yuuka Default Danmaku
    • All enemy attacks deal graze damage.
  • Flower Sign "Reflowering of Gensokyo"
    • 3 turns. Allied units ignore the effects of spirit commands on hit, evade, and damage taken. Yuuka can pass through occupied squares.
  • Magicannon "Dual Spark"
    • 4 turns. MAP. All three Yuukas must be defeated on the same turn.
  • Ultimatum "Ultimate Spark"
    • 3 turns. No Entry in the outer ring. Bomb Radius -2. Yuuka gains an additional action each time she's damaged (max +5 actions).
  • Fantasy "The Beauty of Nature"
    • 5 turns. All upgrades are set to 0. Yuuka can pass through occupied squares.
  • "Flower Master of the Four Seasons"
    • 5 turns. Bomb Radius -3. HP, MP, and SP are halved after fighting Yuuka.

Chapter 76

  • Sheep Sign "Mount Sheep"
    • 3 turns. Units in danmaku cannot move or dodge attacks. Alert is nullified.
  • Sheep Counting "Countless Sheep"
    • 3 turns. Units in the danmaku centered on Meeko lose 15 Power each time they have an encounter with Meeko. Units in the danmaku centered on the party cannot act at below 135 Power.
  • Manifest Dream "Infinite Sheep"
    • 3 turns. Meeko's personal skill becomes Dream Manifestation L1. Meeko creates more sheep whenever all sheep are destroyed.
  • "Does Gensokyo Dream of Youkai Sheep?"
    • 3 turns. MAP. Meeko's personal skill becomes Dream Manifestation L2. Meeko's Power and maximum Power increase by 50 upon declaration and at the start of each turn (max. 300).
  • "Sacrificial Lamb"
    • 3 turns. No Entry in the cross. Meeko's personal skill becomes Dream Manifestation L6. Meeko's Power and maximum Power increase by 50 upon declaration and at the start of each turn (max. 400).

Chapter 77

  • Makura Default Danmaku
    • Units that end their turn within one danmaku field will be teleported to the matching spot on the other field of the same shape.
  • Dream Crossing "Stray Dream"
    • 5 turns. Makura teleports to a random space within the danmaku after each battle.
  • Manifest Dream "Forming Terror"
    • 5 turns. Enemies cast Guard on declaration and on even-numbered turns of the spellcard. Makura summons Nightmare (Great Sheep), Nightmare (Hisoutensoku), Nightmare (Giant Catfish), and Nightmare (Evil Eye Sigma).
  • Nightmare "Abyss of Chaos"
    • 3 turns. Player HP and MP values are swapped.
  • Dream Sign "Indian Amulet"
    • 5 turns. No Entry in the outer ring. Makura can only Defend for 3 turns, but takes -60% damage and gains HP Regen 60%. Makura uses her MAP attack when the countdown ends.
  • Baku Sign "Foreign Divine Beast"
    • 3 turns. HP halved upon declaration and at the start of each turn.
  • Dream Eating "Sweet Dream"
    • 5 turns. No Entry in the maze. Makura summons 22 Dreamlights. Makura is invincible until all Dreamlights are destroyed. Makura's attacks target MP instead of HP, for 10% of normal damage dealt.
  • "All the Dreams in Paradise"
