Fire Bomber

Fire Bomber (ファイアーボンバー Faiā Bonbā) is a rock band from the television series Macross 7. Relatively unknown outside of a small niche following of fans, the group quickly rose to fame due to strange antics of Nekki Basara and the band's ability to use music to thwart the threat of the emerging Protodevlin. Their music is still widely played across the galaxy even in future Macross series, effectively immortalizing Fire Bomber as one of the most famous musical groups in the Macross universe.

Members

The following people are a part of or affiliated with Fire Bomber:

Nekki Basara

The lead vocals and guitar player of Fire Bomber. He also is the pilot of a highly customized VF-19 variable fighter, but he mainly uses it to impose his presence rather than to fight since he is a major pacifist.

Mylene Flare Jenius

The newest member of Fire Bomber that plays the bass and does secondary vocals with the exceptions of songs centered around Mylene. The seventh daughter and youngest child of the famous Jenius family, she becomes involved with Fire Bomber to pursue her passion in music and rebel against the expectations brought down to her by her parents.

Ray Lovelock

The keytar player and leader of the band. The oldest member and a former U.N. Spacey pilot with many connections, he is primarily responsible for handling logistics and non-music related affairs for the band.

Veffidas Feaze

The Zentradi drummer who speaks with her beats rather than with words. Almost anything regarding her background and personality are shrouded in mystery.

Akiko Hojo

A long time friend of Ray who works in the music industry of Macross 7 as a promoter. Much of Fire Bomber's growing popularity are attributed through the efforts of Ray and Akiko.

The following variable fighters have been used and are associated with Fire Bomber:

VF-19 Fire Valkyrie

Basara's highly customized VF-19 variable fighter. Unlike typical variable fighters, its movements are controlled by an electric guitar that is built into the cockpit. While it is technically armed with conventional weapons, its main armament composes of speaker pod projectiles that serve to project Basara's music as he pilots and performs in the midst of battle.

VF-11MAXL

A highly customized variable fighter built exclusively for Mylene upon Fire Bomber's integration into the U.N. Spacey's special unit, Sound Force. Technology and data tested by Basara and his VF-19 Fire Valkyrie was used in the construction of the VF-11MAXL. Like other Sound Force variable fighters, the VF-11MAXL's controls are integrated with Mylene's bass.

VF-17T Nightmare

A customized dual seat variable fighter built for Ray and Veffidas as part of Fire Bomber's integration into the U.N. Spacey's special unit, Sound Force. Like the other Sound Force variable fighters, a keytar is integrated into the controls of the variable fighter. Much of the equipment space meant for copilots have been removed and replaced with a drum set for Veffidas.
