Brave Saga 2/Story Translation/Stage 11
Area 2 > RE-01 District
Stage 11
After we beat that punk Blare, we hopped onto Manami’s Ark and header for the next area.
The Ark… Lame naming sense.
I don’t know about the others, but I’m not a Brave chosen by God or the hope of mankind…
I am going to defeat Bardo’s cronies! … That’s all.
For that, I am going to use whatever I can… That’s all.
Chapter 2: Militarized Zone
(City alley, the Scopedog)
Chirico: The city of Woodo is vanishing… Vanilla, Coconna, Gouto…… Fiana… Don’t… Don’t leave me alone… Where…? Where are they…? (flash)
(Chirico sleeping on the ground)
Chirico: [!] ……! (stands up, looks around, walks a bit)
Satoru’s voice: Did you wake up? (Satoru is part of VARS)
(Satoru enters)
Chirico: Where am I?
Satoru: As you can see, it’s a warehouse.
Chirico: … That’s not it. What I’m asking is…
Satoru: Ah, in that sense. This is called planet Earth.
Chirico: [?] …Earth?
Satoru: Yes… (scratches head) Although… after the earlier earthquake, it’s a bit different from the Earth I knew…
Chirico: {… That’s right. I left the burning city of Woodo and escaped into space. Then……} Where is my AT…? (looks around)
Satoru: Ay-Tee? … Ah, that machine should be brought here any moment now.
Chirico: [?] Brought…?
Toudou’s voice: Oi, give me a hand here!
Satoru: Yes! (leaves on the other side, stops on the way) Seems it’s here.
Chirico: Who was that…?
Satoru: That’s Toudou-san. He’s my comrade, don’t worry.
Chirico: … Comrade… huh.
(Same scene, Chirico, Satoru, Toudou and the Scopedog)
Satoru: It has an unexpectedly simple structure.
Toudou: Yes. Its power structure is very similar to that of a living being. (moves closer to Scopedog) It gives an electrical shock to artificial muscle fibers and gives them flexibility thanks to a special liquid that is used instead of blood. This is done for every individual joint.
Satoru: (does that fist in palm thing) … I see! That’s why you can’t see the mechanical connections within the inside structure.
Toudou: Still… This is a pretty dangerous construction. It shows no consideration for whoever is piloting it.
Chirico: […] There’s no need for that. The AT’s life maintenance mechanisms are entrusted to the pilot suits. It doesn’t need any useless equipment.
Toudou: (ponders) The rest is left to the pilot’s luck and skill, right?
Chirico: … That is correct.
Satoru: Indeed, you seem to have good skill and luck. (does something to the Scopedog) After all, it’s fine in spite of the light armor. Normally, during atmospheric entry, it would be burnt to a crisp due to friction. I wonder if this armor has any secrets. It’s made of a material I’ve never seen before, though…
Toudou: This wasn’t made on Earth. The same goes for the special liquid that flows inside.
Chirico: … Can’t you fix it?
Toudou: [!] Don’t make a fool of me! Even if it isn’t the exact same thing, we have very similar things on Earth as well… Well, leave it to the man in charge of the Brave Police’s development, Toudou Shunsuke! …Now, we’ll talk later, so please help me here! Right now, we should focus on repairing this!
Satoru: … Now that you mention it, We didn’t ask you your name.
Chirico: … My name is Chirico. Chirico Cuvie…
(Later, same scene, Chirico is helping with the repairs)
Toudou: Melkia from the Astragius Galaxy… I’ve never heard of this planet. … Have you ever heard about it?
Satoru: No…
Toudou: I see… Even you’ve given up.
Chirico: […] ………
Toudou: … So. You rode this AT on this planet Melkia and fought in a war… right?
Chirico: (nods) … Yes.
Toudou: […] … Still, a war that went on and on for 100 years? What a frightful world.
Satoru: We’re in a similar situation now as well… It’s not very different from hell.
Toudou: Mhm… Now that you mention it, you’re right… Also, that look in your eyes. Those are the eyes of someone who has forgotten to believe in humans.
Chirico: Eyes of someone who has forgotten how to believe… Someone else told me that before, too.
Toudou: … Hoo.
Chirico: I fought in what I thought was the enemy’s secret base. The army’s orders were absolute. However, what I ended up fighting against were allies. I betrayed my allies without even knowing it… And so, having discovered some of the army’s top-secret information, I ended up being chased by my former comrades.
Satoru: No way...
Chirico: That story… is already over.
(Eyecatch: Chirico and the Scopedog)
(Map, two machines called Odontis appear, red alert)
(Back to Chirico, Satoru and Toudou, red alert)
Satoru: The sensor’s detected something…!
Toudou: … My, my, they’ve come again.
Chirico: Again…?
Satoru: There’s a battlefield above us.
Chirico: Battlefield…?
Toudou: Even though it’s a battlefield, it isn’t a fight between humans. Monster-like robots keep attacking us.
Satoru: That’s why we’ve installed sensors in the vicinity, so that we’d be warned whenever intruders show up.
Chirico: A war, huh…
Toudou: Woah there! You can’t go out with this.
Chirico: Even though the enemy is in front of us, you want me not to fight…?
Toudou: (goes to computer-machine-thing) That’s not it. It’s just that we have someone who can fight instead of you. Gunmax! [!] Oi, Gunmax!
Gunmax’s voice: I hear you!
Toudou: If you can hear me, take off already!
Gunmax’s voice: … Man, older people treat robots too roughly for my taste…
Toudou: [annoyed] Did you forget that now that your Boss, Yuuta-kun, isn’t here, you take orders from me, the man in charge of development?
Gunmax’s voice: I get it!
Toudou: … Damn him! He hung up one-sidedly!!
(Map, Gunmax shows up)
Gunmax: Hey, you! How about you stop pulling these pranks!!?
Clear Condition: Defeat all enemies!
(When that’s done, Stage Clear)
Gunmax: Game set! I got rid of all the intruders!!
Toudou’s voice: You fool! Don’t take it easy! The intruders’ signal hasn’t vanished yet!!
(4 more enemies show up)
Gunmax: Oh no~!
(And so does a blue AT, the Strikedog)
Gunmax: What!? Who is that…?
(Back to Toudou, Chirico and Satoru)
Gunmax’s voice: Hey! There’s a guy I’ve never seen before!!
Satoru: A guy he’s never seen before…?
Gunmax’s voice: He’s like the one we picked up earlier!
Chirico: […] ……
(Eyecatch: Max Varion)
(On the map, the enemies are closing in on Gunmax)
Gunmax: … Kuh! It’s hard even for me to fight this many enemies in a row…
(Back to Toudou, Chirico and Satoru)
Toudou: That blue guy… He seems pretty strong.
Satoru: Gunmax is pretty tired from the previous fight, after all! [!] …!? This call sound is…!!
Manami’s voice: Hey! If anyone can hear this, please answer!
Satoru: That voice is… Manami-san!?
Manami’s voice: Satory!? … Next time I call you, answer at once!
Satoru: [!] Y-Yes!
(Bridge)
Satoru’s voice: … Still, Manami-san…! You were alright!!
Manami: … Of course. Who do you think I am?
Satoru’s voice: Ah, sorry!
(Yuuta enters)
Yuuta: [!] Gunmax!
Gunmax’s voice: That voice, it’s the kid!
Yuuta: Come on! I told you to call me “Boss”!!
(Back to map)
Gunmax: Hahaha…! You get angry as quickly as usual.
Yuuta’s voice: Gunmax…!
(Deployment screen: 2 units)
(FMV: Saber Varion)
(If you deploy Shadowmaru)
Gunmax: … Shadowmaru! You were okay too!!
Shadowmaru: You have the devil’s own luck too!
(If you deploy McCrane)
McCrane: Good to see you, Gunmax!
Gunmax: We can fight alongside one another again! …I’m so glad, Boss!!
Clear Condition: Defeat all enemies!
(Once you beat everyone, stage clear)
(Back to Toudou, Satoru and Chirico, now with Yuuta, Manami and Gunmax)
Satoru: … I see. So you don’t know where Shunpei-kun and Hiromi-chan are, Manami-san…
Manami: I really have no idea for now… Well, I’m sure we’ll run into them, just like in your case.
Satoru: I wonder if Hiromi-chan is safe…
Manami: She’s definitely alright. She’s much better than you at making a living!
Satoru: Haha… You’re right.
Yuuta: So… Will you be coming with us, Satoru-san?
Satoru: Yes, definitely.
Manami: You’ll have to make up for the whole time you weren’t working.
Satoru: [!] Y-Yes…
Yuuta: Hey, come with us, Toudou-san.
Toudou: No, I’ll be staying here. I like this workplace already!
Yuuta: … But, if you stay here, you’ll be in danger…
Gunmax: Give it up, kid. This stubborn fellow won’t listen to you, no matter what.
Yuuta: [!] Gunmax…
Gunmax: …… Well, if you’re feeling lonely, you can call me any time. I can at least talk to an old man, after all!
Toudou: Hmpf! If your prized body gets scrapped by fighting so irresponsibly, you can always tell me! I have all I need to repair and develop the Brave Police here.
Gunmax: See what I mean?
Yuuta: (nods) …Uh-huh!
Satoru: … What will you be doing, Chirico-san?
Chirico: I……
Manami: … You’re coming with us, aren’t you?
Toudou: You’re worried about that blue AT, aren’t you?
Chirico: ……Yes. That blue AT’s reaction speed… That’s no ordinary human. It has to be her.
Manami: [?] Her…?
Chirico: […] ………
(Back to Gohdes’s lair, Gohdes and Redlone from Da-Garn)
Gohdes: Curse those Braves… They showed up there, without knowing that that will be their grave… That place is a barren land buried in machines… It’s neither Beltarn nor Earth. I’m leaving it to you…… Redlone.
Redlone: ……
(Fade to Laboratory Command)
