Aquarion EVOL is the sequel of Genesis of Aquarion. Like Genesis of Aquarion, the series takes place after another reincarnation cycle of 12,000 years after Aquarion-related events. Aquarion EVOL also shares similar themes as its predecessor such as the concept of enduring love.

Aquarion EVOL in Super Robot Wars
Aquarion EVOL shares almost every aspect of its predecessor, Genesis of Aquarion. The Element System is still available and can break the game for first-time playthroughs. The piloting system for Aquarion EVOL is similar to the original Aquarion with some major improvements. Vector pilots are now able to switch out in the midst of battle and attacks used by Aquarion EVOL in all forms are no longer restricted to specific pilot combinations. Vector pilots will also share experience and PP gain so neglecting unused pilots does not really have any downfall other than having a low kill count. In the late game, Aquarion EVOL becomes an extremely formidable and flexible unit with properly built pilots, spirit commands available from all Aquarion EVOL pilots, and unique pilot skill combinations makes it an unrivaled super unit.
