Joint Dragon Fire : Where other combination attacks can be used by any of the units involved, only Great Mightgaine can actually use the attack. It also follows some different rules than other combination attacks (see below).

Combination attacks explanation

A combination attack is a special attack used by several units in collaboration.

Under normal circumstances, all units must be adjacent to one another (diagonals work). However, in SRW-X, a combination attack can still be used if some of the units involved have not been deployed, albeit with a damage penalty. What units in the combination have been deployed must still be adjacent to one another.
For example, if you deploy Luxon and not Bradyon, you can use "Unisolize Combat" without restriction (but with a damage penalty).
If you deploy Great Mightgaine and Guard Diver, Great Mightgaine can use "Joint Dragon Fire" if Guard Diver is adjacent to him.

When used, all units involved expend ammo/EN to use the attack. Therefore all participants must have sufficient ammo/EN in order to use the attack. The ExC Action command "Trick Attack" can be used for combination attacks but only applies to the unit actually using the command. So say you have Mazin Emperor G use "Trick Attack" and Mazinkaiser use the attack "Twin Mazin Emperor Strike", then Mazinkaiser will pay the EN cost for the attack but not Mazin Emperor G. "Trick Attack" will be expended this way wether the unit which uses it initiates the combination attack or not.
Similarly, if a minimum morale is needed to use the attack, all participants must have reached that amount of morale.

While the attack power and morale requirement of a combination attack are identical for all its participants, other stats may vary. For example, Luxon's "Unisolize Combat" is a short ranged melee attack, while Bradyon's "Unisolize Combat" is a long-ranged attack.

Customization, damage and power parts :

First off, any boost to weapons Range, Hit, Crit or Cost obtained through power parts only apply to the unit with the power part. For example, if you equip "Ende's Wings" on Mazinkaiser, Mazinkaiser will get -10% EN cost for "Twin Mazin Emperor Strike" but Mazin Emperor G will still use the attack at full EN cost.

Any bonus to damage, be it from M-Customization rank 5, unit customization or power parts increases the dmg for all members of the combination. However that damage bonus is divided by the number of participants, rounded up to the nearest multiple of 50. Let's give a couple of examples to make things clearer. Let's presume the following

  • You have M-Customization bonuses In-fight up and Gunfight up giving you 200 dmg bonus to both ranged and melee weapons
  • Luxon NEXT is at level 4 weapon customization giving it 400 dmg bonus
  • Bradyon NEXT is at level 0 weapon customization (so 0 dmg bonus) and has Spiral Effector equipped (for 300 dmg bonus)
  • Karura is at level 7 weapon customizarion giving it 750 dmg bonus

Based on this here are the final dmg values for their combination attacks :

  • Unisolize LK = 5800 [Base damage] + 200 [M-Custom] + (400 [Luxon NEXT] + 750 [Karura])/2 = 6575 rounded up 6600
  • Unisolize LB = 6000 [Base damage] + 200 [M-Custom] + (400 [Luxon NEXT] + 300 [Bradyon NEXT])/2 = 6650
  • Unisolize = 6600 [Base damage] + 200 [M-Custom] + (400 [Luxon Next] + 750 [Karura] + 300 [Bradyon NEXT])/3 = 7283.33 rounded up 7300

Units not deployed - damage penalty

As mentioned earlier, if you do not deploy all units in a combination attack, you can still use the attack but with a damage penalty

For all combination attacks, having only 1 unit present results in a -1200 dmg penalty
For 3-men and 4-men combination attacks, having 2 units present results in a -600 dmg penalty
For 4-men combination attacks, having 3 units present results in a -400 dmg penalty

Great Mightgaine and Joint Dragon Fire

Joint Dragon Fire is unique because, although it is a 4-men combination attack, only Great Mightgaine can actually use it. But in order to use the attack, all members still have to reach the required Morale value of 140 and all members will still pay the EN cost of the attack when used. The attack also scales differently from other attacks regarding damage bonus. The attack does not get any dmg bonus from units other than Great Mightgaine. Power parts and weapon customization on Battle Bomber, Guard Diver and Black Mightgaine have therefore no impact whatsoever on the combination attack's damage. On the other hand, the attack benefits fully from any damage bonus applied directly to Great Mighgaine. Therefore, if Great Mightgaine is at weapon customization lvl 10, the attack gets a 1200 damage bonus.
