Morale Limit

Unlike mainline srw, OE naturally increases a pilot's max morale by 1 per level. So a level 10 pilot will have a max morale of 160. Additionally, there are four equippable parts that can raise a pilot's max morale. At this time, it is unknown what the max morale is.

Multiple Units for one pilot

Similar to NEO, OE doesn't allow pilots to swap into other units. The exception is for pilots who get an upgrade because their previous unit is not removed from the unit roster. When choosing units to deploy, both units can be chosen and a pilot can re-enter the battleship and switch to their other unit at anytime.
Additionally, Go, Kei & Gai share Shin Getter with Ryouma, Hayato, and Benkei. Due to this, only one getter team can be sortied at once. These pilots have multiple units:

  • Chirico : Scopedog TC/RS, Scopedog TC/ISS, and Scopedog RSC
  • Sergeant Keroro : Keroro Robot Mk-II/God Keron and Real PG Gundam
  • Zero : Gawain and Shinkiro(DLC)
  • Suzaku : Lancelot and Lancelot Albion(DLC)
  • Kallen : Guren Mk-II and Guren SEITEN Eight Elements(DLC)
  • Van : Shield Liger and Blade Liger
  • Irvine : Command Wolf and Lightning Saix
  • Amuro : Gundam and Nu Gundam(DLC)
  • Quattro : Hyaku Shiki and Sazabi(DLC)
  • Setsuna : Gundam Exia and 00 Raiser
  • Show : Dunbine, Billbine and Sirbine(DLC)
  • Daba : L-Gaim and L-Gaim Mk-II

Squad System

Starting with Scenario 4, in Chapter 1, you have the option to deploy units in squads instead of just individually. Most levels will begin with a certain number of units highlighted red, meaning that they are event deployed and can't be changed. The event deployed units take up part of the total amount of units you are allowed to deploy on a stage. The total is at the top and you also have a limit on the amount of squads you can deploy per map represented by the GR (Group) total when selecting units before a map. Once you've chosen which squads/units you want to deploy the map begins. Once on the map you are only allowed to deploy a certain number of units from your battleship at a time, even if you selected more.

Benefits

There are many benefits to the squad system:

  • Squads count as one selection instead of multiple. E.g. the 8th MS team counts as a single deploy in squad mode and not four separate units.
  • Squad members share full experience from kills.
  • Spirits can be used by anyone in the squad to buff the leader.
  • Squads can pull off Squad Attacks (the attack option under the normal attack option, above MAP). This means a leader and all squad members will use their squad attacks one after another on a single enemy, energy costs still apply.
  • Squads containing repair or resupply regenerate HP or extra EN respectively each turn.
  • If the lead units in a squad is shot down, the next unit in the squad takes their place.
  • Only the lead unit in a squad needs to be able to fly for the squad to fly over terrain.

Drawbacks

There are some drawback to the system:

  • Squads are prebuilt so squads can't be custom made
  • Units in a squad who aren't the leader don't gain will from attacks. They do still gain will from killing enemy units or squads.
  • Non-leader units don't gain SP from attacking however they do gain SP at the start of each turn & from the "Song" Command
  • The lead unit can only change before an action.

Enemy Squads

  • Enemy squads have their HP combined(HP x number of units) and as their hp is reduced, a member of the squad will be destroyed.
  • As long as there are 2 units in a squad, the squad will have a support attack when it's attacking.
  • Each member of an enemy squad is considered an individual enemy for the purposes of kill counts & Ace Bonuses.

Notes

  • Units in squads can still be deployed individually. You can select a single unit either at the intermission screen before a level, or from the battleship once the map begins.
  • There are some missions later in the game that force you to deploy certain units individually, or where you can't use any squads.
  • Some squads cannot deploy in groundless space areas (space maps with no ground terrain), they will be marked with (NGS).

  • * All three of these squads have Chirico Cuvie in them. If Chirico Cuvie is on the field, whether alone or in another squad, he cannot be fielded in another squad.
  • ~ Similar to Chirico, Van and Irvine are shared between these two squads. If they are on the field, whether alone or in one of the squads, they cannot be deployed in the other squad.
  • $ The Blade Liger joins before the Lightning Saix or Dibison do. It will still be counted as a squad if fielded before you get the Lightning Saix or Dibison.
  • ^ Though these three units are DLC, the Iron Kong Mk-II will show up in a number of scenarios without DLC and the Red Horn and Redler are in a single non-DLC scenario as well.
  • % Bernie's Zaku II Kai will not be able to be fielded against Zeon's forces, so on those stages, you must use Christina alone. This does not apply to bonus scenarios, and does not apply to scenarios where only Neo Zeon is present - the final stage where this restriction is in place is in Chapter 5, for the A Baoa Qu fight.
  • @ Similar to the Blade Liger squad, this squad will start without Ozma present, and without the SP for Alto's Messiah. Ozma joins in Chapter 5, and the SP is gained in Chapter 2, but the squad is still a squad before that. The SP and the AP are also space only.

Level Penalty

OE penalizes player units if their level is lower than the enemy. If a unit is between 5 and 10 levels lower than the enemy, the bonuses increase dramatically. Also less Exp is awarded when a lower leveled unit defeats a higher leveled unit therefore it is best that when leveling up fight enemies 0-4 levels higher than yourself.

1 +5% -5% +5% +5%
5 +25% -35% +25% +25%
10 +200% -100% +150% +200%
