Gameplay differences

SRW Compact SRW Compact Color
  1. Spell/Seishin system utilizes system name, date, and pilot name calculation to determine a pilot's spell lists. Lists are mostly detailed here
  2. Features the use of Double (W) movement as pilots reach pre-set levels
  3. Sword (斬り払い) and Shield Defense (シールド防御) skills are separate skills with separate levels
  4. Mental Points (精神力) and Crit Rate (クリティカル) offer a +10 Bonus
  5. Recruitment requirements differ (Bernie must be convinced, Trowa does not need to be convinced, etc. Refer to the game's Flow Chart
  6. Rewards are randomized at the end of a chapter, including several extra units (Leprechaun, Elmeth, etc).
    1. Char's Zaku II is an attainable unit


  1. Spell/Seishin system calculations differ from Compact. Spell lists also differ, resulting in a vastly different sets, currently undocumented even in official guidebooks
    1. Taunt 挑発 is replaced by Bless 祝福
    2. Substitute みがわり is replaced by Dedication 献身
  2. Replaces Double (W) move with the Support (援護) skill system
  3. Replaces Sword and Shield Defense with a combined Defense (防御) stat
  4. Mental Points (精神力) and Crit Rate (クリティカル) offer a +20 Bonus
  5. Recruitment requirements differ (Bernie joins automatically, Minerva X must be at 30% HP, etc. Refer to the game's Flow Chart
  6. Rewards are no longer randomized, and are fixed based on stage clear order, OR number of turns when a stage is cleared (Qubeley, Gerbera Tetra, etc)
  • GP02's Atomic Bazooka has increased reach and radius
  • Dancouga lists the "Aggressive Beast Mode" attack
  • Gundam F91 lists the "Afterimage Beam Bazooka" attack
  • Raideen's upgrade condition and unlocks are changed, including a stronger "God Bird (Head Cutter)" attack
  • Several stages include enemy reinforcements

Graphical differences

  • Several sprites are reused from previous games, mismatching those that do and don't have irises


  • Several sprites are replaced or edited to be more consistent
  • Cut-ins are added for several attack/finisher animations, many featured in SRW Compact 2
  • Quotes and some cut-ins are added to several MAPW attacks
  • After selecting a unit, pressing Y2 or Y4 will change the color of the menus
  • Some unit names are re-written

Musical differences

  2. Dancouga uses "Burning Love"
  3. ZZ characters (Judau, Leina, Roux) use "Silent Voice"
  4. Uses "The End" during ending credits


  1. Bernie and Christina use "Itsuka Sora ni Todoite", replacing Gallant Char in the game's code
    1. Lalah is sorted with CCA characters, and uses "SALLY"
  2. Dancouga uses "Ai yo Faraway"
  3. ZZ characters (Judau, Leina, Roux) use "Anime ja nai"
  4. Uses a different song (title currently unknown) during ending credits. Potentially same ending theme from Compact 2?
